Floorshakers. But I digress. What are the Floorshakers like? Check out this review of one of their recent performances by
Linda Jai:

The second half of the show started out with a bang! Smoke filled the stage and the theater filled with excitement as the audience anticipated the arrival of “The Floorshakers.” Louie Esposito led the group in a highly energized rendition of KC and The Sunshine Band’s, “Get Down Tonight.”

Esposito danced across the stage exuding insurmountable energy and stamina while getting the audience revved up for a performance they may never forget.

Dressed liken to “The Men In Black,” wearing sunglasses, a colorful bandana and gold beads strung around his neck, Esposito and the remaining Floorshakers; lead Guitarist, Douglas Mascardo; Trombonist-Keyboardist, Dave Arms; Saxophonist, Gino Archimede; Trumpet man, Rudy Vera; Bassist, Dave Lopez ( who also performed two solo bits); and Drummer Mike Di Francesco, opened the show for lead singer, Gerald Glasper.

Glasper made his presence known with the group’s version of “Back in Love Again, by the singing group, LTD.

How to Approach a Woman

It's amazing how clueless we men are at times when it comes to approaching a woman. Although I'm sometimes regarded as an expert in this area because of my many years in the Singles social networking field, I too have a lot to learn. Yet I've also learned a lot, too. So I thought it might make sense to share some ideas with you.

1. Become familiar with environment and what's appropriate. For example, at a bar or singles party, it's often not appropriate to walk up to a woman and ask her to dance, at least, not immediately. You need to establish a connection first. You need to talk to her for a while and let her get to know you. Be especially caution about asking a woman to dance in such a situation if the music is slow and romantic. Exception: if the music is fast and the lady is standing near the dance floor and moving to music, that's a clear signal she wants to dance and will more than likely say "yes."

At a ballroom, on the other hand, the group norm is entirely different. It is quite normal and acceptable to walk over to a woman and ask her to dance without engaging her in conversation first. At a ballroom, nearly always the answer is "yes" or "I'm sorry I don't know how to do rumba well -- is that OK?" It doesn't matter much if the music is fast or slow an romantic tune. The focus at a ballroom is on moving together as one to beautiful music, not on hooking up. Although a ballroom it is a great place to find a girlfriend, the action doesn't usually happen quickly. Because you both love dancing and repeatedly see each other at the ballroom, you already share something in common and one things can easily lead to another -- in time.

2. Toasting and clinking glasses. At a place where drinks are served, toasting and clinking glasses with no immediate follow-up conversation can be effective. Try walking about when you first get your drink and offer a toast to everyone with a big smile. "Happy Friday!" for example. Just keep walking and toasting. Don't expect response immediately. But usually, you'll see a nice smile. As you do this, focus on bringing joy to others rather than on trying to score.

Later when you return you will be remembered as that friendly, confident guy. Be careful, though, of trying this if it doesn't feel right to you. If you are shy, the best time to do this is when you are a regular at some place and you really do feel confident and comfortable. If you force it, you won't feel comfortable and others won't respond that well.

3. "Hitting on Women." (to come -- check back for details)

Web Phones are Coming

Web Phones are Coming

Phones will change dramatically in the next year with a lot of new functionality. A new trend is the Web Phone. A phone that you can embed in your website.

A company that is spearheading new development is oddly named "Ribbit" -- after the sound that a frog makes. Ribbit is offering a new open source platform for developers.

Ribbit did a "developer launch" recently (12/07) and will do a consumer launch in the first quarter of 2008. Developers are invited to download a version of its APIs for its private developer beta which is open to any programmer. (An API is an "Application Programming Interface -- a set of software tools that a developer can use to create a new software application.)

When Ribbit takes off you will be able to make calls from your computer to a Flash phone with a chalkboard interface and a lot more.

Google's Mobile Phone Platform

Google is launching a New Mobile Phone Platform, not a phone of their own like a Gphone or a Google Phone, but a platform that geeks and clever programmers can use to create add-ons. It's a new Google Open Source Platform called...

Android

Because the open source approach usually results in many interesting and often powerful applications, we can look forward to some new unusual features in phones that work with Android!

Thirty-four companies are jumping into the ring with both feet -- companies like Motorola, T-Mobile and Intel. Even Ebay. Could Google be thinking about cell phone shopping?

Watch and see. Remember, you heard about Android from Phil Seyer, a part-time geek, dance teacher, and full time Director of Professionals Guild.

New Years Eve, Bay Area, Sacramento tickets at pguild.com

Again this year I'm hosting two huge, New Years Eve parties on 12/31/2007, one at the San Ramon Marriott and another at the Hilton Hotel, Arden West in Sacramento. You can get tickets, if you like by visiting my New Years Eve website.

Whew! it's a lot of work to organize these parties, a lot more work than I ever expected. Putting together these parties involved, working out contracts with 3 bands, 2 DJs, 12 professional craps and blackjack dealers, a balloon decoration specialist, a magician, photographers, arranging for exhibitors, meeting with hotel management, security guards, temporary help personnel, radio, television, Internet marketing teams and more.

A lot of work, but a lot of fun, too.
