Tango Plus Party Review

Singles Tango Plus Party at Golden Gate Yacht Club

Our Tango Plus Party for singles in San Francisco, over all, was very successful. We had a good crowd of people at the party. I was amazed to see a large crowd of singles hugging each other and then dancing tango in a rather close embrace after just a few minutes. Of course, the steps were very simple, but it was a lot of fun.

We changed partners often and someone commented, "The best part was the tango lesson where we changed partners; what a great way to get to know a lot of people quickly."

At about 9:20pm we switched to free style dancing and a mix of rock, swing, salsa and other music, to which most of the crowd just danced free style. It seems that an hour of tango is all that beginners can take of that dance. It is interesting, though, that experienced tango dancers love to dance tango all night.

Below is a really nice video describing Argentine Tango. Just know that as a beginner you don't have to dance cheek-to-cheek in full embrace. You can dance in open position. You will always have that close embrace to look forward to once you get used to Argentine tango. Just click on the photo to see the video. Bay Area Singles Party in Berkeley a Huge Success

Our recent East Bay singles party at Golden Gate Fields (the race track) was a huge success. People were raving about the venue and special dinner we had. The turn out was huge, about 300 singles mingled and danced until the midnight. The huge dance floor easily accommodated everyone and there was even room to do some fancy dance moves.

We had a fun music video up on multiple wide screen TVs during the mixer hour. Everyone seemed to enjoy the mixer game and we gave out some nice prizes around 10pm.

We will be doing it again on Friday, August 15th and will probably have another wine dinner before the party.

A Fun Way to Capture your Expenses

Capturing all business expenses has always been a challenge for me -- that is, in the past. But since I am self-employed and organize dance parties and mixers, it is extremely important for me to stay organized and record all expenses.

Now I find it fun and easy. What's my secret? Two great free websites:

Jott.com
and...
Xpenser.com

I suggest you first join Jott.com and get familiar with how you can send short email messages with your cell phone with voice to text technology. You can send email to yourself or others in seconds without typing anything. You talk, it types. The transcription is not always perfect, but its good: good enough to be very useful. Jott converts your voice into emails, text messages, reminders, lists and appointments.

Once you have Jott set up, register with Xpenser and add Xpenser as a link within Jott. Then you can call Jott. (It's best to set up a speed dial button for this) Jott will say:

Who do you want to jott?
You can reply "Xpenser"
Jott will confirm, "Xpenser, is that correct?"
You reply "Yes."
Jott will say: "Go ahead record your Jott"

You can say something like "24.95 for lunch meeting with Nike to discuss Party at Golds Gym."

Xpenser will automatically date your entry. Once a week or so, you can log in to Xpenser and edit the log and create reports. You can export them to a spreadsheet if you want. Just do this! It could save you a lot time and money.

On Thursday, 4/24/08 we had a singles happy hour from 6:30 to 7:30pm at the Holday Inn in Concord. After the happy hour we adjourned the Happy Hour and got educated at an RBC Seminar that featured Oliviva, a new nutritional supplement. New web based phone services are already changing the way we
communicate with phones. And they keep evolving. Some new innovate companies include:

Ccube

Ccube is a social networking site that enables contact, instantly by private phone calls.
It can be used for social networking, in entertainment, or to facilitate customer contact.
Friends and relatives can also use it for free calling within the United states. The basic
service is free.

Social Networking -- Travis Watson, a country singer, has a "Call me On Ccube button"
He boldly invites other MySpace user to call him for "bookings, intelligent conversation,
pranks or drunk calls." He can do that because his real phone number is hidden
and he can easily specify the times when his Ccube call forwarding is active. He can
also easily turn it off entirely if he wants, while keeping his real phone number private.

Entertainment. Drae, whose id on Ccube is "MrSexy31" works in the entertainment business
as a TV host and apparently has a record label. He uses Ccube to invite potential
business associates to call him.

Enabling Phone Contact on Websites. Vator.tv a website for innovators to showcase
their ideas, collaborate and exchange knowledge to get their ideas to the next level.
At www.Vator.tv they have a "Call Me on Ccube" button to invite patrons to make
contract with them by phone.

This will be possible because thousands of developers will work together in an open source environment to help each other. They will be able to plug into the system and create web applications even though they know nothing about the low level details of telephony. Google

Google is launching a New Mobile Phone Platform, not a phone of their own like a G-phone or a Google Phone, but a platform that geeks and clever programmers can use to create add-ons. It's a new Google Open Source Platform called Android. Because the open source approach usually results in many interesting and often powerful applications, we can look forward to some new unusual features in phones that work with Android!

Thirty-four companies are jumping into the ring with both feet -- companies like Motorola, T-Mobile and Intel. Even Ebay. Could Google be thinking about cell phone shopping? Ribbit claims that their technology can encompass Android; that is those using Ribbit can make calls to apps created with the Android Platform. Time will tell.
